Tonight I took my first Sip n' Snip class from my local floral shop, Langdon Floral. Basically, you pay $30 to drink wine (the red was great, by the way) and make your very own floral arrangement. The theme was "Create Your Own Adventure," which reminded me of the books I read as a child where I could choose where the story went. (Writing such a novel is on my to-do list.)
The class was an interesting experience for me. While I am a very creative individual, I can't grow anything to save my life. I have a catnip plant I bought over a month ago that's still barely alive, and that's my lifetime best work. If it's green, I will kill it—a weakness I am quite comfortable with.
As I put together my arrangement, I thought of it in the context of art. And if I'm able to view anything as art, suddenly it's a lot more interesting. All in all, I had a lot of fun, and have signed up for a succulents class next month. Can't wait 'til then.
