The Extraordinary of Every Day Life

Mood/Music Monday

I appreciate good storytelling, whether it be through film—like The Fault In Our Stars, which I watched this morning (haven't read the book, but I'm guessing it's great, too.) Or writing—like Shirley Jackson's We Have Always Lived in the Castle, one of my all-time favorite books. Or music—like Bright Eyes' Lifted, which I will never tire of listening to.

A well-conveyed story sticks with me, weighs on my mind, urges me to be and do better. So that's my goal as an artist—to convey the extraordinary of every day life. To find beauty in what others may look past. To face the problems of someone else's world and come out on the other side. I don't merely write love stories, I write life stories. One way or another, I write survival, and I think that's something we can all relate to.
